Eliminate varicose veins
There are two very effective treatments for the elimination of varicose veins: Laser Surgery and Sclerotherapy, it is important to go to consultation to know which is the right one for you.
Laser Surgery
Saphenous Endovascular Ablation whith laser
Varicose veins are abnormally large veins that are usually found in the legs. Normally, blood circulates from the heart to the legs through arteries and returns to the heart through veins. The veins contain one-way valves that allow blood to return from the legs against gravity. If the valves leak blood, it accumulates in the veins, and the veins can enlarge or become varicose. Endovenous ablation is a minimally invasive image-guided treatment for varicose veins. It uses radiofrequency or laser energy to cauterize (burn) and close the abnormal veins that lead to the formation of varicose veins.
Ultrasound is used to visualize the varicose vein. A laser fiber or radiofrequency electrode is inserted to the desired site within the vein using an IV. A local anesthetic is injected to collapse the vein around the laser and to act as an insulator for the heat of radiofrequency or laser energy. Then laser or radiofrequency energy is applied, which heats the blood vessel and makes it close. After the procedure, the defective vein shrinks and heals.
Some of its benefits are:
-
Minimum Invasion
-
Ambulatory
-
Quick recovery
-
Lower disability
-
No wounds, no scars
-
Excellent results in the symptomatology
-
Lower surgical risk
-
Lower risk infection for diabetic patients
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical outpatient procedure designed to attenuate the appearance of spider veins and small, superficial varicose veins.
PROCESS
Sclerotherapy consists of injecting a solution that is introduced directly into the veins that wish to be treated. In preparation for the treatment, the patient stands still while marking the veins to be treated. With a micro needle, the sclerosing solution is injected into the vein, which causes it to harden and fade over time. An injection can treat approximately one square inch of skin, and in a single procedure numerous injections can be applied, according to the size of the area being treated. Because pain is minimal or non-existent for patients, anesthesia is rarely needed. In general, the treatment time lasts between 30 minutes and one hour.
RESULTS
The goal of sclerotherapy is to improve the appearance of unsightly veins. After each session of sclerotherapy, the veins will clear up. However, because bruises usually occur, the results may not be seen for two weeks. Sclerotherapy does not prevent new varicose veins from forming on the surface of the skin, therefore it should not be considered as a permanent solution to treat spider veins and varicose veins. Most patients are satisfied with the results of sclerotherapy and enjoy the improved appearance of their skin.
